My household is a big consumer of pineapple. My husband doesn't tire himself of having pineapple for breakfast every morning. Because already cut pineapple is 3 times the price of one full pineapple, I always buy one to two pineapples every week. They ripen while we eat the ripe ones from the previous week.

Zucchini has become over the years one of my favorite vegetables. So much so that two years ago, we decided to grow vegetables during the summer. That was our first pass at it, and it was pretty encouraging. That year we "successfully" grew tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchinis. And because we are not really gardeners, we kind of forgot that we needed to tend to our vegetables every day.

Sometimes, during the weekend I just want to be lazy, sleeping longer than usual and enjoying my time in bed, reading a good magazine while listening to music. And then, I get hungry, but it's pretty close to lunch time. So it's time to whip up a good brunch!

At this time last year, I entered a contest for the Food Network and KitchenAid. You had to create a recipe and submit it via Instagram, Twitter and their site. I didn't win but it really sparked in me the desire to create recipes.

Some days, you just want a quick dinner. But it doesn't mean that it won't be a fine dinner. And with fall being a week away, I'm still in the mood for Barbecue flavors. So today I'm making a tart with Barbecue sauce. A BBQ Gorgonzola tart, more precisely.

Today is cloudy, here in San Jose. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, all I want to do is stay home, in my pajamas, eating some good comfort food and read a good book or magazine. And today, I want chocolate. Chocolate tarte, more precisely.

Don't you love it when a recipe feels luxurious and yet, is economical? I do! When I make my Crab Quiche, it looks and tastes like a very expensive dish but because I use canned crab meat, its cost is very affordable.

As a true Malagasy, rice is in my blood. It's a staple that we eat every day, at every meal. We usually eat it plain, with meat or stew. Even though my husband is Malagasy as well , he refuses to eat plain rice...

VOAHANGY’S COOKING TIPS

#1
Organization is key in the kitchen. If you have everything measured, prepped and sorted before hand, executing your recipe will be pure bliss.

#2
A food scale is more precise and very useful to calculate calories in a recipe if you're watching your waistline.

#3
Clean up as you go. You'll be much happier after all that hard work!
